Hello Readers.

I recently presented an academic paper looking at the financial and non-financial strategies that two of the most successful English clubs - Manchester United and Chelsea- in the past twenty years adopted. I cover topics such as the financing strategy, competitive strategy, financial management, financial fair play (FFP), board composition, managerial changes and the sporting director role.

The owners of both clubs have faced opposition recently - The Glazers from the club’s fans and Abramovich from the UK government- which resulted in Chelsea being sold and there are rumours that a small stake in Manchester United would be sold in the near future.

While it is an academic paper, the presentation is easy to follow with graphs, tables and me summarising what is a 60+page paper!
